Meet Aida & Sofia…

Aida wanted stability for her and her daughter.

A victim of sexual abuse and pregnant, Aida was placed in foster care as a teenager.

Referred to the Parent Aide program when she was 18 years old, Aida started working with her mentor to deal with the challenges of parenting a toddler while trying to complete high school. An immigrant, her native language is Spanish. Her limited proficiency in English makes it more challenging for her to navigate the educational and legal systems to get her education, residency status, and other supports.

Aida met weekly with her Parent Aide mentor, Natalie, who provided guidance with parenting, life skills, and advocating for herself and her daughter. Proudly, Aida graduated High School last year and is now working towards enrolling in college to study criminal justice.
